The weather can’t make up its mind. Some days Summer blazes on in full glory. While other days Fall flits around like an ADHD student…or an emotional woman…or both.
Such is also what one can expect from oneself when the weather plays hide-and-seek with dependability. Yes, folks, ever since I was freshman in college, I’ve noticed that I have seasonal moods, and I’m not talking about that “certain” time of month that women are blessed with. No, I’m talking about Spring moods. Summer moods. Fall moods. Winter moods.
Delving into Fall moods is like reading an eloquent invitation to a long nap. Glancing out the window and watching grey clouds roll in just begs for one to cuddle up on the couch and watch meaningless hours of TV. Flying yellow leaves lures one into a state of semi-apathy that requires a big pot of soup and toasted crusty bread to accompany it.
Or, to put it concisely, I nearly fell asleep during my lunch break today. And, to make matters worse, I couldn’t think up a legitimate pep talk with enough “pep” to break the spell of Fall. As the day wore on, I was lured into leaving all my grading on my desk. Now, I’m plopped on the couch, watching Netflix and stalking Facebook.
It’s Fall, folks, and I’m exhausted. Funny how predictable I can be, despite the lack of dependability displayed by our lovely weather patterns.
Enjoy Fall with all of its ups and downs, patterns and chaos, lattes and couches. It’s something of beauty. It’s something that happens only once a year. I’m addicted 🙂
